TULSA, OKLAHOMA---Incoming 6th grade students at Thoreau Demonstration Academy were met by a real live timber wolf today.
Timber Wolf Training Camp is an opportunity for new students to receive schedules and locker assignments, as well as to meet teachers and have an introduction into Thoreau's ‘MicroSociety'. Having Harley the wolf from Safari's Sanctuary in Broken Arrow meet the children is a way to lighten the mood and show kids the school mascot at the same time.
‘Safari's Sanctuary's Lori Ensign has graciously agreed to bring a wolf, our mascot, out every year for the children to get into the spirit of being a Timber Wolf,' said Principal Tom Paladino.
Thoreau is a research based environment that houses sixth through eighth grade students from across Tulsa.
