70-Year-Old Man Killed Trying To Cross I-44 At Peoria

TULSA, OK -- A 70-year-old Tulsa man was killed walking across I-44 near Peoria early Friday morning.

He's been identified as Carl Rainwater.

The accident happened just after midnight. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a pickup truck hit Rainwater after he tried to run across the westbound lanes of I-44.

Rainwater was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

OHP troopers had to shut down one of the lanes on I-44 during their investigation.
