Employee Among 3 Arrested For Shawnee Bank Robbery

Three men accused of robbing a Shawnee Bank earlier this month were arrested over the weekend, according to the Oklahoma FBI.

SHAWNEE, OK – Three men in connection with the robbery of The First United Bank in Shawnee earlier this month are behind bars, according to the FBI.  One of the men is an employee at the bank.

Abijah Aaron Gribble and Colin James Vardy Smart were arrested over the weekend.  Phillip Tyler Wayne Hammons, an employee at the bank, was also arrested.  All three are from Pottawatomie County.

The robbery happened July 8, 2010.  A man, armed with a gun and wearing a black ski mask, robbed the bank and fled with an accomplice in a small, black, two-door car.

All three suspects face federal robbery charges. They are being held in the Shawnee jail.
