TULSA, OK – The city of Tulsa could be accepting bids soon for the remodeling of the giraffe barn at the Tulsa Zoo.
Last month, Tulsa Zoo officials told the city council they were planning to remodel the giraffe housing unit before cold weather returned this winter.
During a meeting of the city council Tuesday morning, zoo officials say they are estimating the cost to be $170,245.
The city plans to accept bids on the project in the near future.
In January a giraffe at the Tulsa Zoo died of hypothermia during an extended cold snap.
Last month, the Tulsa Zoo veterinarian said the goal was to have its remaining giraffe in the new barn by mid-November at the latest.
