TULSA, OK -- The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has announced a grant of $5,000 has been awarded to the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals of Tulsa.

The grant is in connection with their participation in Subaru of America's "Share the Love" campaign with Ferguson Subaru of Broken Arrow.

"We are thrilled to recognize Oklahoma Alliance for Animals for their work on behalf of the community's homeless pets," said Elysia Howard, Vice President of Marketing & Licensing for the ASPCA. "The support of organizations across the country has shown us how truly dedicated Americans are to supporting the vital work of our nation's animal shelters."

In a news release, the ASPCA says they conducted a contest, in conjunction with the "Share the Love" campaign, to find the most compelling events and activities created by local animal welfare agencies and Subaru dealerships.

Five winners were selected for their inspired entries, dedicated to promoting animal shelters as the best places to adopt, while finding loving homes for their adoptable pets.

"We are so thankful for the generosity of the ASPCA in awarding this grant. These funds will help us in our mission to reduce pet overpopulation through community collaboration and education," said Jamee Suarez-Howard, President and Founder of OAA. "It is our hope that through generous donations and grants such as this that eventually Oklahoma communities will be places where no healthy animal of reasonable temperament is euthanized simply because it does not have a home."

The contest helped match Subaru dealers with local animal welfare agencies around the country, which resulted in more than 350 adoptions and $28,000 raised for local agencies.
