TULSA, OK -- Oklahoma will live up to its reputation Wednesday as being a windy state.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for 29 counties in northern and western Oklahoma through Wednesday night. In our of the state, that includes Osage and Pawnee counties.
News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says wind speeds could range from 15 to 35 MPH.
Stronger winds will be likely Thursday in advance of a strong area of low pressure to the west that will bring a chance of storms to northeastern Oklahoma early Friday and into the weekend.
Those winds may toss loose objects around and create hazardous driving conditions.
As the low pressure system moves into the state, Crone says it will produce severe weather in southern Kansas and northwestern Oklahoma.
Those storms could be capable of large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes if they can form.
As the system moves eastward Friday the threat will transition to more of a damaging wind threat for the overnight and early morning hours.
Out in the Oklahoma panhandle, blowing dust may lower visibility to less than a mile.
