TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Public Schools is asking for more resignations to help avoid teacher layoffs.
TPS says it still needs more than 200 volunteers to come forward, before next Tuesday.
If the school district can't find the extra volunteers, it'll be forced to lay off first-year teachers.
Thirty-three teachers have already agreed to quit their jobs, if the school district pays their health insurance for the next 18-months.
But Tulsa Public Schools says that alone, just isn't enough.
"Teachers right now have been busy with testing and they haven't had enough time to study the proposal, because it is a big decision," said Denzel Kesterson with the Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association.
TPS held a signing day Tuesday for teachers to come forward and voluntarily resign from their jobs.
The state's second largest school district will hold one more signing day next Tuesday in hopes of getting 200 more resignations.
