NEAR WAGONER, OK -- An amateur photographer from Wagoner captured dramatic video of a bridge being demolished in eastern Oklahoma.
Bart Bogle, who owns Bogle Automotive Repair in Wagoner, shot video of the demolition of the old state Highway 51 bridge over the Verdigris River. His friend, Albert Jones, took still photos as well. Bogle posted the video and the images on NewsOn6.com by sending them to pics@newson6.net.
The bridge is being replaced by two new concrete bridges. One of the concrete bridges was built years ago and will carry one lane of traffic in each direction until another concrete bridge can be built where the old one was standing.
The demolition experts took down the old bridge in two separate operations, one on Monday morning and one on Wednesday morning.
Bogle says he shot the demolition of the center span just after 7 a.m. on Monday morning. He captured the demolition of the outer spans, which was even more dramatic, at exactly 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.
He says he almost missed Wednesday morning's explosions because they happened a few moments earlier than he expected.
