OTTAWA COUNTY -- Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers blame drug impairment for a single-car accident that left a 4-year-old Miami boy dead. Robert Hardee, the son of the driver, died of massive injuries sustained in the collision.
According to the accident report, Tamara Hardee, 32, of Miami was driving westbound on State Highway 10C near Wyandotte in Ottawa County when she lost control of her 2003 Ford Taurus. The vehicle left the roadway to the right and rolled two and a half times before coming to rest on its top.
Hardee's two children were in the car with her. Vanessa Hardee, her 7-year-old daughter, was transported to a Miami Hospital in good condition with head, leg and trunk injuries. Tamara Hardee was also admitted in good condition with arm and trunk injuries.
The 4-year-old, who was in a child restraint, died at the hospital from massive injuries.
Troopers say the cause of the condition was driving under the influence of medications.
