CREEK COUNTY -- A Mannford woman died of injuries sustained in an accident on Highway 51 in Creek County. Judy Quinalty, 53, was the only fatality in a four-car accident that happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers say a Mannford school bus was stopped on eastbound Highway 51 near Old State Highway 48 in Creek County to load a passenger. Gwyneth Carlos, 67, of Jennings, attempted to avoid hitting the bus and instead rear ended another vehicle.
Carlos' Mercury Grand Marquis rear ended a 1997 Ford Thunderbird driven by Joshua Fisher, 23, of Drumright. The Mercury hit Fisher's car then continued off the roadway striking a 1999 Honda SUV that was parked in a private drive.
Quinalty was a passenger in the Honda. She was transported by Mannford EMS to St. John in Tulsa where she was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m.
The driver of the Honda, 68-year-old Joan Jackson of Mannford, had minor injuries but was not transported, the report states.
No one on the school bus or in the other vehicles was injured. Troopers report that seat belts were in use in the other two vehicles but not the Honda.
