BROKEN ARROW, OK -- A Tulsa County school district alerts teachers their jobs are in jeopardy.
Broken Arrow Public Schools sent notices this week to 140 first-year teachers that their jobs next year are not guaranteed, and the school district may not be able to re-hire them.
All of these teachers are on temporary, one-year contracts. The district says this is not unusual in difficult budget times.
Officials say they won't know how many teachers they can afford to hire back until state lawmakers in Oklahoma City take action on the budget.
