Walmart Increases Charitable Contributions In Oklahoma And U.S.

BENTONVILLE, AR – The Walmart Foundation says in a news release Thursday, it gave just under $500 million in charitable contributions in the U.S. and abroad in the last fiscal year.

The world's largest retailer said it gave $467 million in the U.S., including cash and gifts of merchandise.

In Oklahoma, those type of contributions amounted to $11,054,496.

The gifts are from Walmart's 2010 fiscal year, which ended January 31.

Bentonville-based Walmart says it doubled its donations to food banks last year, providing 64,000 tons of food.

The release says the types of donations range from medical supplies to Haiti and summer meal programs at Boys and Girls Clubs across the country.
