TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett Jr. will be the keynote speaker for Oklahoma State University-Tulsa's graduation ceremony on Monday, May 10.

OSU-Tulsa President Howard Barnett in a news release said the mayor is a role model for students, both in terms of his commitment to public service and passion for the city.

"We are honored that Mayor Bartlett will speak at OSU-Tulsa's graduation ceremony," Barnett said. "Our graduates will benefit greatly from his insights and experiences as a successful businessman, public servant and elected official. He has had an interesting few months in office and I think he will have a valuable perspective to share with us."

Bartlett was elected Tulsa's mayor in November 2009 and has been president of Tulsa-based Keener Oil and Gas Company since 1994.

He is the eldest son of the late Oklahoma Governor and U.S. Senator Dewey Bartlett Sr.

About 500 OSU-Tulsa undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate in this year's graduation ceremony on May 10 at 7 p.m. in The Pavilion at Expo Square.
