Puppies Rescued From Tulsa Drainage Pipe Ready For Adoption

TULSA, OK -- In January, a dog and her puppies were rescued from a drainage pipe in Tulsa.

A stray mother-to-be looked for a safe place to start her family, but quickly found a culvert was no place for puppies.

Firefighters chiseled their way in to pluck the puppies from the pipe.

The newborns have outgrown their cardboard box and are now climbing over each other in an outdoor pen. Rescuers say the entire litter is strong and healthy.

"They're doing great. They'll be ready to go to their new homes next week," said Jaynie Ozment.

Folks are quickly getting attached to the rowdy rascals. They're a chatty bunch, but every once in a while, they let you get a word in edgewise.

Some of the patient pups are happy to sport a snazzy bandana and others don't seem to be into accessorizing.

A couple of folks have already shown up, interested in one little puppy, the runt of the litter.

There are six girls and three boys, all of which will be spayed or neutered and vaccinated.

Before they're adopted, momma stopped by to say goodbye.
