TULSA, OK -- A Sand Springs man is in the Tulsa County jail after he reportedly tried to run down a Tulsa Police officer as she tried to stop him following a hit and run accident early Friday.

The incident happened at 12:30 a.m. Friday at the Fishbonz club at 61st and Sheridan.

Police officer Tami Manz says she heard a crash and saw Billy Cooper, 45, leaving in a car.

Police say Manz ordered Cooper to stop, but say he replied with profanity and sped backwards in his car attempting to strike her.

As Manz approached the driver, she says Cooper accelerated forward and again attempted to strike her and a witness then drove away.

A few minutes later, another Tulsa Police officer spotted the car at 71st and Harvard.

The car was stopped and Cooper was arrested on complaints of DUI, assault and battery with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was booked into the Tulsa County jail.
