TULSA, OK -- More than $150,000 in scholarships were on the line Saturday at the Tulsa Welding School.
Two-hundred high school seniors from across the country came ready to compete. The school says, despite the economy, welders are still in demand.
"If they're willing to travel, there is work available out there for these welders. They are still retiring faster than we can possibly put them out there in the market," said Ken White, Tulsa Welding School High School Coordinator.
After graduation, Tulsa Welding School says students can expect to make about $40,000 a year.
