TULSA, OK -- Weather problems in Texas caused a major problem for a group of cheerleaders from Liberty Mounds High School trying to leave from Tulsa International Airport Friday morning.
'We pulled up and American Airlines had just canceled our flight to Dallas,' said Varsity Cheerleading Coach Trina Evans, 'we've been here since 4 am, they've been doing some research to see if they could get us to Orlando and the answer finally was no, they couldn't get us there.'
The students and their sponsors were headed to the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida at Disney World.
The winter weather in Dallas this week forced many airlines to cancel flights, including the cheerleaders' flight from Tulsa through Dallas to Orlando.
Instead of flying, the group has now chartered a bus and left Tulsa later Friday morning for the trip to Florida.
Airport management as well as Airport Ambassadors pitched in to help purchase pillows for the girls' overnight ride to Florida.
