CATOOSA, OK -- An icy road proved dangerous for a Green Country driver. Luz Dake wrecked her SUV near 186th East Avenue and Pine in Catoosa.
Wednesday morning's foggy commute proved dangerous in several parts of town. It was really bad for Luz Dake.
"Barely I missed one car and then after that - I can't control my car," she said.
She started sliding down the Pine Street hill just off of Lynn Lane, and she wasn't the only one. Five cars slid off the road there.
But Luz Dake's mishap was the worst.
"I didn't know what to do. I went straight into the pole," she said.
That pole was a power pole. The transformer landed on top of her car, and the electric line snagged her back bumper.
Her heart raced.
"The policeman approached me and said ma'am don't get out. Stay in it, don't touch any metal," Dake said.
Thankfully a Catoosa Fire Captain drove up on the accident within moments. Utility crews turned the power off and Dake eventually was able to get out safely.
Dake said as she sat in her car she thought, "I'm going to die if I open my door."
She can laugh about it now, but the 45 minutes she was stuck inside the car - with the power pole and lines on top - were 45 minutes she'll never forget.
