TULSA---Today Tulsa Public Schools held a training session for individuals interested in their volunteer substitute teacher program. The ‘Teach for the Stars' volunteer substitute teacher program lasted about three hours at Kendall-Whittier Elementary School and featured an hour of processing by the substitute office, an hour of instructional strategies, and an hour of classroom management.

‘We're asking the community to come and join us at one of our trainings so that we can get them ready to go into the classroom,' said Lynelle Burrows with Tulsa Public Schools, ‘we typically need two hundred plus substitutes or teachers-for-a-day, each day.'

The next training session is in early February. Visit the Tulsa Public Schools web site for times and further information on the TPS Volunteer Teacher Program.
