TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Union's Grove Elementary School was closed on Thursday and will be closed again Friday because of flooding in several of the school's classrooms.
Union School officials say a combination of rain Wednesday evening and on-going construction on the building at 10202 East 62nd Street is the cause for the two-day closure.
In a news release from the school district, crews are using heavy equipment and blowers in the clean-up effort and will use the two days plus the weekend to ready the rooms for classes as usual Monday.
Union Public Schools say Grove Elementary is in the middle of a major remodel, adding classrooms and restrooms and expanding the cafeteria and gymnasium.
Officials say this expansion is thanks to a bond issue approved by voters last year. The news release adds, if voters pass another bond issue on February 9, construction for the entire project will be completed.
