TULSA COUNTY -- A rural Tulsa County home west of Owasso and Collinsville went up in flames early Friday morning and the cause may have been a problem with a space heater.
The home is located just south of 106th Street North and Memorial.
Owasso Fire and Rural Collinsville firefighters say the home was fully engulfed when they arrived to the scene shortly after 6 a.m. Friday.
Owasso Fire officials say the owner of the unoccupied home was using space heaters to keep the house warm and one of the space heaters may have malfunctioned, sparking the blaze.
The hydrant near the home was frozen so firefighters had to use tanker trucks to bring water to the scene.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper first spotted the fire and attempted to enter the home to see if anyone was inside, but was driven back by the flames.
Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies shut down Memorial between 96st Street North and 106th Street North because of firefighting equipment in the roadway.
No firefighters were injured fighting the blaze.
