TULSA, OK -- EMSA responded to a call for patient transport from the David L. Moss Correctional Facility just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The 26-year-old male inmate, Antonio Thomas, was believed to have a stab wound that was not healing properly.

According to Sgt. Shannon Clark with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, Thomas had been examined Wednesday night, and emergency room doctors had cleared him to be released and admitted to jail. However, on Thursday, jail personnel were concerned about the wound and requested EMSA transport Thomas to OSU Regional Medical Center.

EMSA was called because jail employees are not allowed to transport inmates to the hospital, Clark said. Thomas is in fair condition, and Clark said they are unsure what caused the wound.
