BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Strong winds were apparently to blame for a downed communications tower Wednesday in Broken Arrow.
The tower is owned by Public Service of Oklahoma and is located near Lynn Lane and the Broken Arrow Expressway.
The company believes the extreme temperature drop and high winds caused at least one of the guy wires to snap, bringing down the 26-year-old tower.
The tower was used by PSO for internal communications so its collapse should not disrupt cell phone service for the public, according to on-scene reports.
PSO says the 263-foot tower fell either overnight or early Wednesday morning.
