TULSA, OK – A Tulsa man is dead after police say he was hit by two vehicles as he walked home from a convenience store. The drivers never stopped to check on the man and now Tulsa police are searching for those involved.

The fatal hit and run happened at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday near 36th Street North, east of North Peoria Avenue. Sgt. Brian Hill with Tulsa Police says officers responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls of a man being hit.

The victim is a 44-year-old man who Sgt. Hill says was walking home from a store on the southwest corner of 36th and North Peoria to his home at Comanche Park Apartments.

Tulsa police officers interviewed witnesses who said the man was trying to cross the street when he was hit by a vehicle, knocking him to the ground. That's when they say another vehicle ran over the man. Both drivers kept going and officers say the man died from his injuries.

"It's a dark area and certainly there have been accidents that have occurred in this area before, but at the same time, whoever was involved in this accident and/or think they might have been involved, we just simply want to speak with them and find out what happened," said Sgt. Brian Hill.

Witnesses told officers one vehicle was a later model, dark SUV.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.
