TULSA, OK -- Tulsa police made three arrests Friday related to the December 2 death of Jerron Peters, 31. Police say Peters was shot and killed in the 1800 block of North Delaware Place in what they believe was a "drug deal gone bad."
Peters was found in the middle of the street with bundles of marijuana surrounding his body.
Jessica Jeri Johnston, 21, Raphael Carthell, 21, and Anthony Stafon Porter, 21, were interviewed and arrested in connection with the murder.
Police say Peters was a drug seller who met the three suspects for a drug deal. Johnston acted as a go-between to set up the transaction, according to the arrest report.
During the drug deal, Porter attempted to rob Peters with a gun, police say. When Peters fought back, Porter shot and killed him.
Johnston admitted to police that she knew the two men she accompanied on the drug deal intended to rob Peters, but that they did not intend to shoot him. She said the gun went off accidentally.
According to the police report, Anthony Porter told police that Carthell drove the car during the robbery. Porter said that he did not intend to shoot the victim, and the victim grabbed the gun while it was in his hand.
All three were booked into the David L. Moss Correctional Facility on complaints of first degree murder.
