TULSA---From a recently remodeled and dual-certified ‘green' home in midtown Tulsa, Sustainable Tulsa invited media and the public to go green.
‘We wanted to kick-off the 2010 Tulsa Green Directory, and we wanted to announce it from a place where you could see a real person trying to go green,' said Sustainable Tulsa's Executive Director Corey Williams, ‘the 2010 Tulsa Green Directory is listing of over 700 business and agencies that promotes sustainable living.
Chad Burden rebuilt the abandoned home using many of the local suppliers featured in the new green directory, and say that one of the greenest things a homeowner can do is to buy locally, Corey Williams agrees.
‘If you invest locally, that dollar become 15 dollars for the Tulsa area,' she said, ‘if you invest in companies that are really outside of Tulsa, they're chains and things like that, four dollars goes to us and the rest leaves, so buying local and supporting our local industries, our business and our artists and our restaurants is really one of the greenest things you can do this holiday season.'
