TULSA, OK -- This year's U.S. Capitol Christmas tree made a stop in Tulsa Sunday afternoon on its way to Washington, D.C.
Every year a different state is selected to provide the massive Christmas tree that sits outside the U.S. Capitol.
This year, for the first time, the blue spruce came from Arizona.
The 65-foot-tall giant was hauled across the country and made its only Oklahoma stop at the Philbrook Museum at 2727 South Rockford in Tulsa.
"We have approximately 6,000 ornaments that go on the big tree and another 4,000 ornaments that go on the companion trees that will be given out throughout Washington D.C.," said Rick Davalos, Capitol Christmas Tree.
The tree was in Tulsa for two house Sunday afternoon.
People were invited to sign a message on the truck carrying the special Christmas tree to Washington D.C.
