TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Public Schools celebrated the grand opening Monday of its new Continuation School.
The new school is designed to use innovative teaching techniques to help struggling high school students earn the credits needed to graduate.
With 30 slots each for morning and afternoon classes, the school is operated in collaboration with some of the region's social service agencies.
TPS hopes the new school will help reduce dropout rates in Tulsa.
"If they have academic success, then we have some assurance that they will go on and continue to be successful and productive citizens in our community without it, their future looks somewhat bleak," said Mark Claypool, Ombudsman Educational Services.
Tulsa's Continuation School is located inside the Fontana Shopping Center, 4968 South Memorial.
