MUSKOGEE, OK -- A Spiro, Oklahoma man entered a guilty plea on a federal criminal complaint of mailing a package containing five pipe bombs to his brother's California business. An employee of the business was injured September 8 when one of the bombs exploded.
Vernon Dale Mustin, 51, was arrested on a complaint of possession and using a destructive device, according to Sheldon Sperling, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
An investigation tracked the package back to Mustin after an employee of the Visalia, Calif. business received flash burns and cuts on his arm, hand and face after opening the package.
Mustin's brother owns the business, Sperling said.
Mustin could face up to 30 years in prison and up to $250,000 fine in the case which is being prosecuted.
