UNDATED -- A suspected bank robber is in custody after being captured in a Claremore parking lot at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Jimmie Estes Thompson, 49, has been arrested for two counts of first degree robbery. He is a suspect in an October 5th robbery of the IBC Bank branch on East 71st and the robbery of the MidFirst Bank branch on South Peoria on September 28th.
Rogers County sheriff's deputies approached the suspect after information from Tulsa Police led them to the hospital.
"We had to be careful that we weren't spotted by the suspect until we were ready to move in," said Sheriff Scott Walton. "Had he known we were there it could have created a dangerous situation for the public and the law enforcement personnel that were in the area."
The Sheriff's Office contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigations who responded to the area. Once agents of the FBI were on scene, the man was approached and agents from the FBI placed the man into custody without incident.
Rogers County Sheriff's deputies, Tulsa Police and and Claremore Police were at the scene.
The Claremore Indian Hospital is located on State Highway 88 near Rogers State University.
