TULSA, OK -- A candlelight vigil and community rally is planned for Saturday in memory of Jacob Barnes, the 16-year-old Memorial High School student who was shot and killed after getting off a public school bus last Friday.
"This was a senseless act of violence that we will not accept in our community," said organizer Andru D. Morgan. "We plan to gather this Saturday to remember Jacob and celebrate his life."
Students who rode the bus with Jacob plan to attend the rally and wish to speak to the crowd, Morgan said.

The vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 3 at Hawthorne Park, 33rd St. North and Peoria Avenue.
"Aside from honoring the memory of this great young man, we will also speak on solutions and form plans on how to prevent pointless acts such as this from happening again," Morgan said.
"If we stand together as a community we can stop the violence."
