TULSA, OK -- Multiple-car collisions slowed traffic and injured drivers on several mayor highways in Tulsa Friday morning.

One collision took place at I-44 and Yale. Three cars were involved in that accident according to News On 6 photojournalist Gary Kruse. Troopers report that there were no serious injuries.

"This rain has caused significant traffic problems all over town," Kruse said.

Highway 169 was the scene of several accidents apparently caused by hydroplaning, according to KRMG's John Filbeck. The worst wreck was at southbound 169 and the Broken Arrow Expressway. Traffic was backed up for about four miles as emergency crews cleared the scene.

Other weather-related accidents took place on southbound 169 at 21st Street, 31st Street and 41st Street, Filbeck said. On northbound Highway 169, there were accidents at 21st Street and 46th Street North.

Traffic is slowing on the surface streets as well as drivers look for alternate routes.

"These are caused by hydroplaning," Filbeck told The News On 6. "In this kind of weather we need to back off the speed and back off the car in front of us.

"It's been a very tough drive this morning."

Other accidents have taken place on I-44 and 244 Friday morning and at 41st Street and I-44. At least one person has been transported to an area hospital.

Tulsa is not on Operation Slick Streets this morning, so police are responding to even minor fender benders.
