TULSA, OK -- Reality show design competitions are very popular on cable television. So, when the organizers of the Tulsa House Beautiful Show were looking for something new for this year, they said why not? And, Wednesday became shopping day for the contestants.
Four teams of media celebrities and amateur decorators were scouring the Habitat for Humanity's ReStore for things they can use to decorate a room.
The teams have a limited budget of $250, and a one hour shopping spree at Habitat's ReStore. It is kind of a thrift shop for building materials and household items.
Teams have to decide what kind of room they'll decorate; each team gets a 20 by 20 space with two walls. They're responsible for wall and floor coverings and furnishings.
Nicole Thomas is the show manager and an admitted reality show junkie, and says she can't wait to see what they come up with.
Everything the decorators use will be donated back to the ReStore for resale, and other proceeds from the contest also go to Habitat for Humanity.
The show is in the QuikTrip Center beginning Friday with the final judging for the Decorator Showdown on Sunday afternoon.
