Raney's Attorney Wants Trial Moved From Muskogee County

MUSKOGEE, OK -- A change of venue is requested in a Muskogee County murder trial.

The attorney for Jerry Raney is asking for his trial to be moved out of Muskogee County.  Raney is charged with the murder of his stepdaughter, Sara Smart, in 2006.   Her body was found months after she disappeared inside a barrel in a Haskell pond.

Raney's attorney says there has been too much pretrial publicity.  A judge will hear the request next month.
