TULSA, OK -- On Friday nights at Cascia Hall, senior linebacker Kyle Cowan knows what it takes to win.

"Really, you just block it out and focus on right then," says Commandos senior linebacker, Kyle Cowan. "You don't think about anything. You just do what you know how to do."

Cowan has had a lot of success during his football career at Cascia Hall and that doesn't surprise his head coach at all.

He's one of the studs on this football team, both on offense and defense," says Joe Medina. "He has the ability to physically dominate a football game from any side of the ball. He's that talented of a football player."

As a junior, Cowan anchored the Commandos' "Blue Swarm" defense that allowed a ridiculously measly nine points per game last season...and as impressive as that sounds...Cowan was even more dominant indoors on the mat as a back-to-back state championship wrestler. He hasn't lost a match in over two years. His wrestling coach, Ernie Jones, has watched him excel on the mat and on the field.

"He has tremendous use of his size. He knows how to use his body," smiles Jones. "He's very intelligent and he wrestles that way, plus he just has control of his body at all times."

Jones has seen Cowan's ability on the mat transfer to the football field.

"The aggressiveness, the attacking, the confidence that comes with it builds a man's confidence tremendously."

"I can't really tell you which one I'm better at because I love them both," says Cowan. "You can say I've had success at both."

Since arriving at Cascia Hall, Kyle Cowan has done nothing but win. He has four championships already - two in football and two in wrestling - and still that's not enough. He says he wants to add another title to his resume this fall.

"You can never be satisfied with just two (football championships). It's beyond reasonable. We should win the state title this year."

Coach Medina agrees.

"If we're going to win the state title this year, he's going to have to have a great, all-state caliber type f year."

"It's going to be the best year he's had for us."
