Getting Students Ready For Class

TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Child Development Specialist Dr. Julie Powell Thomas offers some helpful tips to get your children ready to head by to class using the word SCHOOL.

S- Set a schedule of bedtimes, homework times and wake-up times and follow it.

C- Color code your children' notebooks and book covers to match for each subject.

H- Have an identified homework set up with extra school supplies.

O- Organize backpacks, lunches, school notes, etc in a central area, preferably near where kids enter and leave the house.

O- Offer incentives like special weekend privileges for kids who do a good job following the school plan and schedule.

L- Limit screen time on school nights to no more than two hours and after the completion of homework and other responsibilities.
