Gas Meter Explodes Outside Tulsa Business

An small natural gas explosion blew a commercial gas meter off the side of a building at 41st and Sheridan.

TULSA, OK -- An small natural gas explosion blew a commercial gas meter off the side of a building at 41st and Sheridan.  Tulsa Fire responded at about 11 a.m. Friday at the Cycle Gear Shop to 41st and Sheridan.

Fire officials say ONG crews were changing the gas stop on the meter when a small explosion blew the meter off the side of the building.

The gas has been turned off, and damage was limited to the exterior wall according to Bill French of the Tulsa Fire Department.

French also said there were no injuries in the incident.

Cycle Gear Shop is on the southeast corner of the intersection in a small shopping center. Traffic was diverted from the area for a short time.
