SEDAN, Kan. (AP) -- The 38-year-old son of journalist and television personality Bill Kurtis has been found dead in a small home in southeast Kansas.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Perry Russell said Tuesday that Scott Kurtis was found Monday by a caregiver, identified in various news reports as his sister, Mary Kristin Kurtis.
Russell says the case is being handled as an unattended death, and an autopsy was being conducted to rule out foul play.
Bill Kurtis, a former CBS journalist and current host of crime and news documentary shows for A&E, owns a ranch near Sedan.
Officials say Scott Kurtis had been living in Sedan for about 10 years and working at his father's ranch. Russell says Scott Kurtis had been having some health issues before his death.
