TULSA, OK -- Emergency crews responded to a gas main break Tuesday morning near Interim Plaza near 51st and Delaware.

Officers say a construction crew hit a gas line at about 8 a.m.

Firefighters say a trackhoe operated by W.N. Couch company struck a 4-inch plastic medium-pressure natural gas line approximately 6 feet underground.

Firefighters say the worker who struck the line told them it was not in the location where it had been marked.

Crews had to dig down on each side of the break before they could repair it.

Police have closed 51st Street west of the 51st Street exit on I-44 to Columbia.
