EUFAULA, OK -- A retired Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent has been named as McIntosh County's sheriff.

Joe Hogan has been hired by McIntosh County commissioners during a special meeting Wednesday morning.

Hogan was one of six finalists interviewed for the job on Tuesday. In all, 13 candidates applied for the job.

Hogan was sworn in during a ceremony at the McIntosh County courthouse in Eufaula.

Former sheriff Terry Jones resigned last month after being charged in federal court with depriving a motorist of his civil rights.

McIntosh County Undersheriff Mykol Travis Brookshire resigned this week. Brookshire was also charged with the same offense in federal court in Muskogee.
