OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Health officials Thursday announced the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in Oklahoma has risen to four, including an Oklahoma County girl who attends school in Edmond's Deer Creek district.
Officials say two of the new cases, an adult female and a teenage girl, are Cleveland County residents and an earlier case involved a Pontotoc County woman. All four people recovered without the need for hospitalization.
The Oklahoma City-County Health Department says in the Oklahoma County case, the child was likely exposed through contact with a family member who became ill after traveling to Mexico. As soon as the girl developed symptoms, the family kept her at home, contacted their family doctor and a test was done.
Department medical director Dale Claflin says the child was treated with antiviral medication and has returned to school.
