Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Tulsa Area

TULSA, OK -- The News On 6 WARN Team is tracking severe weather across the Tulsa area.

Meteorologist Dick Faurot says locally, the greatest concern for this storm is heavy rainfall. Flooding is a possibility. Faurot says to expect several inches of rain in a short amount of time.

A flash flood watch is issued for 1 p.m. Wednesday through the evening hours across the area.

Storms may also produce damaging winds.

The state Transportation Department reports two state highways have been shut down because of high water from heavy rain in parts of the state.

State Highway 8 between Aline in Alfalfa County and Cleo Springs in Major County is closed.

Also closed is State Highway 156 in Kay County between Marland and U.S. Highway 60 east of Tonkawa.
