KANSAS CITY, MO -- About 200 people attended a unity march and prayer hour in memory of a slain girl who Kansas City residents knew for years as only "Precious Doe."

The event Saturday lasted more than an hour, with several speeches and musical performances. It concluded with a dedication of a park honoring the girl and other slain or abused children.

The site of the future park is a wooded area where 3-year-old Erica Green's dismembered body was found on April 28, 2001.

The child went unidentified until May 2005, when her mother and the mother's husband were arrested in Muskogee, Okla., in the slaying. A Kansas City activist's tip led police to the couple, who married after Erica's death.

They were convicted last year in the killing.
