TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Fire has identified the victim of an overnight house fire in Tulsa.
The victim, Stanley Claude Smith, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene of the house fire in the 1000 block of East 38th Street.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Tulsa Fire got a call about a house fire with rescue.
When firefighters arrived at the home, they were able to knock the fire down and enter the home and take Smith outside.
Fire officials say Smith was in the front room of the home when the fire started, but he could not get out.
The flames quickly spread to the home's front porch area.
"It appears that maybe he was just sitting on the couch, fell asleep, smoking or something of that nature is what it looks like right now," said Tulsa Fire's Tim Smallwood.
Smallwood says Smith lived by himself and no one else was hurt in the fire.
