TULSA, OK -- After 54 years of living near the airport, a Tulsa couple finally has some peace and quiet inside their home.
The Neils' home is the 1,000th to be sound-proofed under the Quieter Home Program. It's paid for mostly by a federal grant for neighborhoods near the airport.
The couple says for years vibrations from planes overhead would shake the sheetrock loose.
John and Sadie Neil said that since their home was fixed, there are no vibrations and hardly any sound.
Crews replaced windows and doors, added insulation and exhaust fans to bring in fresh air. The couple will also save money on their energy bills.
