Freeze Warning Means Plants Need Cover

TULSA, OK -- A freeze warning is posted for the Tulsa area on Monday night.  If you haven't already, our gardening expert says you should cover your plants ASAP.

A painter's tarp or a light weight plastic tarp works best to help capture some of the ground heat.  Buckets and even dry, dead leaves work, too.

"Anything you can do tonight to try protect your plants, you might as well do it.  You can always prune off any damaged flowers or damaged leaves so that's not really any kind of big deal," said Steve Smith with Southwood Landscape & Nursery.

You'll probably need to tack down the tarps to keep them from blowing away and be sure to use some sort of support to keep the cover from crushing your plants.
