TULSA--The U.S. Shooting Academy in Tulsa has noticed a trend among those seeking concealed carry licenses...more women.
‘Just within probably the last 6 to 8 months we have seen a dramatic upswing as far as the number of women enrolling for not only the concealed carry courses, but all of our courses in general,' said Director of Training Brian Hill. ‘Whether it be our competition handgun courses but more specifically one of one-day tactical handgun courses or self-defense courses.'
Hill sees the increased interest of women in shooting as a sign of the uncertain times.
‘People are noticing a shift in this country right now, as far as some crime trends, some economic trends, and people are becoming a lot more aware of their surroundings. That is what we are hearing from our female customers,' Hill said.
‘You hear about crime every day, it seems to be getting to be more intense locally. I just want to be able to defend myself,' said Ruth Dennis
