Driver Dies After Hitting Tree Near Bixby

BIXBY, OK -- An investigation is underway into a fatal traffic accident near Lake Bixhoma near Bixby on Tuesday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 44-year old Steven Wright of Sand Springs was eastbound on 181st Street when he veered off the road.

OHP troopers say he was going so fast and wrapped the car around a tree.

Wright died at the scene.

Troopers say alcohol "may" have played a role in the accident.
