TULSA, OK --Teachers and staff of Eugene Field Elementary in west Tulsa were called into an assembly today where they were presented checks as a reward for outstanding performance. It came as a delightful surprise when The Foundation for Tulsa Schools presented checks totaling $10,300 as recognition of their hard work."Its money for them to do with as they please," said Rachel Maze, Executive Director of The Foundation for Tulsa Schools, "We've delivered $36,000 this year. We have an accountability checklist and they were the most improved of all elementary schools this year."
The teachers high-fived each other as they were called to the front of the assembly to be presented with the checks. The Eugene Field students cheered their teachers and applauded each recipient.
"It really means a lot that we are recognized for the extra effort," said 4th grade teacher Rebekah Warnke.
