BROKEN ARROW -- A Broken Arrow police officer was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor complaint of driving under the influence.
Jimmy McBee, 29, was booked into the Broken Arrow Jail with bond set at $594, according to an arrest report.
A Broken Arrow officer saw McBee's pickup truck blocking traffic near the 1200 block of North Aspen Avenue about 1:15 a.m., the report states.
The officer made contact with McBee and observed a strong odor of alcohol on McBee's breath, and his eyes were red and watery. There was a large box of beer cans in the seat next to him, the officer reported.
When asked how much he drank, McBee said "way too much," according to the report. He apologized several times during the investigation and eventually said he stopped in the road to make a phone call.
When McBee was asked to get out of his truck, "he was very unsteady on his feet and often staggered," the report states. He had slurred speech and refused to cooperate with field sobriety tests and later a breath test at the jail.
McBee had two lumps above his left eye and said they were caused during a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend in Tulsa.
He is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation, which is standard procedure, city spokesman Keith Sterling said.
A Broken Arrow officer for the past two years, McBee was previously a police sergeant in Collinsville.
